The halfway

 I've been in Paphos for two weeks - and there are still another two weeks left. At this point my legs are basically done, as we have walked everywhere and I normally use my car to get places. So it is the perfect time to start my next plan: renting a car for a week and exploring things beyond Paphos. That will be the plan of week three! This should be interesting, considering the traffic in Cyprus is a bit different from Finland, much more chaotic and also mirrored (left-sided). During this week I also have painted a lot, and have got a couple paintings done. Couple days ago we were working outside, I finished a small painting and then I felt the earth shaking beneath me. A huge amount of birds escaped from the trees. It was the first earthquake of my life, and it was quite powerful. Later that day, there came another one, this time even bigger. This time I was in a hairsalon when it happened and once it started, all of the local hairdressers started to panic and run out of the building, at that point I got scared for a moment there and thought that they knew something I didn't and that the building could collapse or something.. But again, the earthquake stopped as soon as it started. Maybe I am weird, but this was the highlight of my trip for sure. Me and my traveling companions also visited the archeological site of Nea Paphos. There were some old mosaic floor remains at the House of Dionysos, but we weren't allowed to take pictures. And we saw a pelican walking down the street, with its owner. A bit more unusual pet👌.

Nyt olen ollut kaksi viikkoa Pafoksella - ja vielä toiset kaksi viikkoa on jäljellä. Tässä kohtaa jalkani ovat loppu aikalailla, koska olemme kävelleet kaikkialle ja normaalisti kuljen autolla joka paikkaan. Joten nyt onkin täydellinen aika siirtyä seuraavaan suunnitelmaani: vuokrata viikoksi auto ja lähteä tutkimaan asioita Pafoksen ulkopuolella. Se on suunnitelma kolmannelle viikolle! Tästä pitäisi tulla mielenkiintoista, ottaen huomioon Kyproksen kaoottisen liikenteen joka eroaa Suomesta ja on myös peilikuva siitä (vasemmanpuoleinen liikenne). Tällä viikolla on tullut myös maalattua paljon ja olen saanut valmiiksi muutaman työn. Muutama päivä sitten teimme töitä ulkona, sain pienen maalauksen tehtyä ja sitten tunsin maan alkavan vapisemaan jalkojeni alla. Valtavasti lintuja lähti pakoon puista. Se oli ensimmäinen maanjäristykseni koskaan, vieläpä melko voimakas. Myöhemmin samana päivänä tuli toinen, vieläkin kovempi. Tällä kertaa olin kampaamossa ja kun se alkoi, kaikki paikalliset työntekijät lähtivät paniikissa juoksemaan ulos rakennuksesta. Siinä kohtaa jo säikähdin ja ajattelin että muut tietävät jotain mitä minä en, että pian koko rakennus romahtaa tai jotain.. mutta tämäkin järistys loppui yhtä nopeasti kuin alkoikin. Ehkä olen outo, mutta tämä oli matkani ehdoton kohokohta. Kävimme matkakumppanieni kanssa myös Nea Pafoksen arkeologisella alueella, missä oli vanhoja mosaaiikkilattioita Dionysoksen talossa, mutta sieltä ei saanut ottaa kuvia. Ja näimme pelikaanin kadulla kävelemässä omistajansa kanssa. Hieman epätavallisempi lemmikkieläin👌.
